HR 5175: Congress Threatens 1st & 2nd Amendment Rights Again!

I am so tired to communicating to my 'UNrepresentatives' in Congress.
Why do we have to hound them to do what is right?
And then they seldom listen!

HR 5175 is the resuscitated version of the 'Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002, McCain–Feingold
Act'
which declared unconstitutional by the Supreme court in 2007.  Only this time they have enlisted the 'non'-help of the NRA.

Details and opportuntity for action can be found at Gun Owners of America, House Democrats Close to Reinstituting
Penalties for Criticizing Congress
article.

The bottom line appears to be that The House is looking to fix the holes in the BCRA of 2002, and have made an exception for the NRA in exchange for their non-opposition, and the NRA TOOK THE BAIT.

I urge you to read the article and take action.

Quote: Conscience, Patriots and Perseverance

Quotes shared with me today, which I find encouraging, to do and to be, even in the face of opposition if necessary.

"Never do anything against conscience
even if the state demands it."
-- Albert Einstein
(1879-1955) Physicist and Professor, Nobel Prize 1921

Mister Einstein experienced this in a way few of us today do, he and his family was a persecuted by Hitler as he grew to power.  He saw first hand the results of compromising character, especially when the ‘state’ demands it.  He was a fortunate Jew in that he was abroad before the borders were closed.

"If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin."
-- Samuel Adams
(1722-1803), was known as the "Father of the American Revolution."
1780

Samuel Adams, one of the fathers of our country, experienced first hand the British oppression as Boston was blockaded.

"Never give in.

Never, never, never, never,
in nothing great or small,
large or petty,
never give in
except to convictions of honour and good sense.

Never yield to force;
never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

-- Sir Winston Churchill
(1874-1965) Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

Words shared by the British leader who lead a people ‘trapped’ on an island nation against the Nazi war machine.

Let us not forget the past.

Be blessed, be a blessing.

Quotes: On Government

As I watch the radar with amazement (severe weather just seems to part around Barton County, MO), I ran across these quotes and thought they were worthy of being shared.

BE

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.  Government programs, once launched, never disappear.  Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!"
-- Ronald Reagan
(1911-2004) 40th US President

"Government is not the generator of economic growth;  working people are."
-- Sen. Phil Gramm
(1942- ) US Senator

Quote: Trust versus Usurpation, Thomas Paine

"A constitution is not the act of a government, but of a people constituting a government; and government without a constitution is power without a right. All power exercised over a nation, must have some beginning. It must be either delegated, or assumed. There are not other sources. All delegated power is trust, and all assumed power is usurpation. Time does not alter the nature and quality of either."
-- Thomas Paine
http://quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quote_blog/Thomas.Paine.Quote.9D6F

Thomas Paine is far from my favorite person to quote, a Quaker who seemed to border on atheist.  However, he had many thoughts which are very appropriate for expressing issues surrounding government, freedom and power.

As has been said else where, our form of government is only suitable for a moral and upright people what exercise self control (control from within).  Should we lose these qualities, it will be necessary to control us, as a people, from without (hence the government).

As a final thought to reflect on today, consider the words of George Washington:

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."
-- George Washington
(1732-1799) Founding Father, 1st US President, 'Father of the Country'
