Where is America Headed?

In recent weeks I have been reluctant to share much of what I have learned about where the current Presidential Administration is taking our nation. I wanted to encourage rather than discourage. I needed God to transform my mind.

Therefore, before I share the following, please be reminded that the LORD is in control. He is not surprised at anything which occurs; and we need to keep our eyes on Him.

Dismantling America By Thomas Sowell at Jewish World Review, is very much a short must read to put things in perspective. I will simply share the first and last paragraph to help give his perspective.

Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many "czars" appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?

Nothing so epitomizes President Obama's own contempt for American values and traditions like trying to ram two bills through Congress in his first year — each bill more than a thousand pages long — too fast for either of them to be read, much less discussed. That he succeeded only the first time says that some people are starting to wake up. Whether enough people will wake up in time to keep America from being dismantled, piece by piece, is another question — and the biggest question for this generation.

Psalm 12, Save from Lying Lips

Simply by 'chance' this was the first Psalm I read in my personal worship time.

Inflation, Government and Contentment

Recently, I was reading financial publication which had the following quote:

"By a continuing process of inflation
governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved,
an important part of the wealth of their citizens."

Would you like to guess who made this statement?
Would you consider who follows the principles of this man today?

Read the quote again.

How is inflation produced?
If a nation's monetary system used fiat money, say paper money with no tangible backing,
then it is only necessary to print large amounts of this money to create inflation.

Why would a nation print such large sums of money?
Perhaps to cover a debt which the nation owes.
Or perhaps, as Mr. John Maynard Keyes indicates, there might be another reason.

Frankly, I prefer to reflect on the words of another knowledgeable man:

"Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

But as for you, O man of God, flee these things.
