Jefferson: On Government

"[W]hen all government,
domestic and foreign,
in little as in great things,
shall be drawn to Washington
as the center of all power,
it will render powerless the checks
provided of one government on another
."
--Thomas Jefferson, letter to Charles Hammond, 1821

When will we learn the lessons of history?
I expect only when we are willing to listen to the past, rather than trying to rewrite it.
