Asteroid in close Earth proximity

Events such as those mentions in this article, Space rock gives Earth a close shave, give me reason to pause as I reflect on many of the events going on the world, and as I reflect on scripture.
The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.
(Rev 8:10-11 ESV)
Now I recognize this may not be an asteroid, yet God has been know to orchestrate events to accomplish his purposes. Therefore, it would not surprise me if this passage doesn't represent the impact of such a massive object.

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
(Php 2:9-13 ESV)
All the more reason for us to be ready for that soon and coming day.

The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come."
And let the one who hears say, "Come."
And let the one who is thirsty come;
let the one who desires take the water of life without price.
(Rev 22:17 ESV)
